“Bride”

Made in perfect timing, counterpart to man. The deficiency made whole.

Separate, yet created for union. Holy matrimony.

Bridal glory is unveiled before the face of the Lord, yet veiled in holy submission to the One we call King of Kings.

A heart surrendered and submitted unto the Lord of Lords who calls me by name, gives peoples in exchange for me, and calls me His own.

Beauty for branding, beauty for ashes. A bride cannot forget her jewelry or garments, so we cannot forget the Lord’s righteousness nor the calling He bestows upon us, for it reflects His glory.

If woman is the glory of man, of how much more are we the glory of the Man Himself?

Yet for glory to shine through these porcelain shadows of current reality we must allow ourselves to be molded by the Maker. A process of restoration, of kintsugi, and of artful reconciliation within the heart of hearts.

We are His jars of clay, and oh how marvellous it is to be clay in the Potter’s masterful hands!

To be His Bride is to answer the altar call where He had proposed over 2000 years ago on a Roman cross. To behold His strength in weakness, power displayed in crucifixion, in humiliation, in shame.

“looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” — Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬

As we walk down the aisle to meet our King, the Bridegroom, we keep our eyes on Him. Run the race well, Bride, know He is waiting for you, just as we are waiting for Him to come and claim His own.

“And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”” — Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭28‬-‭31‬

“If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.” — Jeremiah‬ ‭20‬:‭9‬

“My beloved is mine, and I am his; he grazes among the lilies.” — Song of Solomon‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬

“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;” — Revelation‬ ‭19‬:‭7‬

Let us remember You, Lord, and keep our eyes singly fixed on our First Love all our days, into eternal glory, in union with You. Amen.
